Calling all parents of DMC Students! Each year a new Board of Members is voted into the SOT. Every public school in Clark County School District has to have an SOT. It’s time to begin creating the ballot with interested parents!
What is SOT?
SOT stands for School Organizational Team and consists of administration, teachers, support staff, parebnts, and in secondary school – students. It’s a requirement within the “re-organization” law AB394 in Nevada. It is NOT the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) or Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).
When does the SOT meet?
David M Cox ES holds the SOT meeting once a month after school in the school library. Meetings are held after the monthly PTA meetings, and typically last an hour. Meetings are held from October to the following September of each school year. Meetings are open to the public of parents/guardians with students enrolled in the school.
Who can be on SOT?
Any parent or guardian of a currently enrolled DMC student in PK-5 grade. Parents/guardians can be elected to the Board annually until their student leaves 5th grade. There are no term limits.
When do you vote for SOT?
Ballot names are collected in August/September and elections for the SOT take place at the September PTA meeting, in the MP Room.
What does the SOT do?
Assists with the school budget, staffing allocations, funding of positions, the school performance plan, the annual community survey, and when necessary meets with the Region Associate Superintend\ent to hire a new principal. The SOT holds meetings to develop ideas about the systems of school operations and listens to public input for improving our school.
How many people can serve on the SOT?
For our student enrollment our school is designated for 2 teachers, 1 support staff, and 4 parents.
Election Information
If you would like your name on 2026-2027 SOT ballot, please click the link below and complete the Google Form.
- Names will be accepted August 10th – September 3rd.
- Only names received via the completed Google Form will be placed on the 26-27 SOT Ballot.
- All names received through the Google Form will receive information updates via the sumbitted emails.
- All adults present at the PTA SOT election meeting will vote on 4 parents to serve on the SOT Board.
- Elections will be tallied at the meeting and announced at the end of the meeting that night.
